About Me

Picture
For as long as I can remember, I have loved horses. As a little girl, I spent most of my time dreaming of the day when I would have one of my own. I used to visit our neighbors’ horses almost daily - regardless of whether I actually got to do anything with them other than feeding them carrots or grass through the fence; I just loved being with them.
When I was 12, I was blessed to find a mentor who would give me a solid foundation for everything I learned from then on. Among many other things, Laura Daley is a registered riding instructor with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship Association, author of Riding Fear Free, Brandi Lyons Certified horse trainer, and a million things in between. When I met her, she had studied the horse training methods of John Lyons for years, and those methods are the foundation of my training methods to this day.

It is through Laura’s guidance that I gained an interest in natural horsemanship, equine massage therapy, and natural hoof care. I learned to value safety first, foremost, and above all else. She also taught me that however much you know, you’re never done learning.
Through my teenage years, I participated in 4-H, competed in the CSHA (California State Horseman’s Association) Horsemastership program, as well as small local shows.
In 2004, I became a Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist through the Bridge Creek Ranch School of Equine Massage.
A few years after that, I gained an interest in natural hoof care, and started studying to be able to trim my own horses hooves. In 2007, I completed most of the training program for the American Association of Natural Hoof Care Practitioners, and then transferred to the Pacific Hoof Care Practitioners, of which I am currently a member. I trimmed hooves professionally in California for seven years, before moving to Colorado in 2015.

In 2008, I attended Ken McNabb’s three-week apprenticeship for horse training, gaining a certification in the apprentice level of the program.

I have also taken in a few project horses for training, given beginning riding lessons, run a small boarding stable, rescued and rehabilitated a few charity cases, and managed a Paint horse breeding facility. I’ve also managed the therapy horses for a therapeutic horseback riding facility, and bred Arabian, Paint, Quarter, and Miniature horses of my own.

While I no longer offer horse training services as a part of my business, the horse trainer side of me is present every time I touch a horse, and I would say that is where I really shine the brightest. It's rare for me to find a horse that I can't get along with, and many of my clients have come to me because their horses did not get along with any other farriers. Most of the time, those same horses are not a problem for me at all. I believe that every time we do anything with our horses, we are teaching them something, and it is important to me to have hoof trimming time be a positive experience for your horse, because I know that the experience that your horse has with it's trim today is something that will transfer into your horses' attitude and behavior tomorrow.
